Best Student Poster Award

Aim

To encourage students to present excellent studies at ISES conferences, which fall within the field of Equitation Science, as defined in the ISES Mission and Aims which can be found on the ISES website (https://equitationscience.com/about/mission-and-aims). 

Eligibility

The applicant must be a registered tertiary level student or have been awarded a tertiary level qualification during the 12 months before this application.  In order to qualify for this award the student is expected to present their research (as a poster presentation) during an ISES International Equitation Science Conference ensuring that their work is aligned with the ISES priority research goals.  A panel of judges convened at the conference will decide upon the most promising student presentation.  (See the ISES Research Strategy.)

Award

Following the judging, the winning student will be presented with their award at the conference.  The winning student will receive a certificate and free registration for the following year’s ISES International Equitation Science Conference.

Notification date and format

You should notify the chair of the Scientific Committee that you wish your poster to be considered for the award of Best Student Poster when submitting your finalised abstract.  This will usually be done via the abstract submission webpage.

Judging criteria

Student presentations will be judged on criteria relating to the academic content and professional presentation.

Assessment scoring

Scores are given in a range from 1 to 5:

  1. (poor)
  2. (fair)
  3. (average)
  4. (good)
  5. (excellent)
Assessment areas

Scores are awarded in the following assessment areas:

  • Content (clear, purpose/objectives, method, results, conclusions)
  • Format (attractive, organised, illustrations, authors)
  • Results (accuracy of presentation, interesting)
  • Novelty (originality, techniques, insights)
  • Conclusion and results (do conclusions match results and title)
